Product information

This is a fully automatic label printing and dispensing system for applying labels to books, CDs, MCs and DVDs.

The system is equipped with an Intermec, Type 501 E thermal transfer printer. With this printer it is possible to print all product information, such as barcode, ISBN, price, title onto the label. We have equipped the printer with an interface that ensures the communication between our microprocessor control and the printer control.

The printed labels move on to the dispenser and the carrier tape is rolled up after the labelling process. The products can either be placed on the conveyor belt by hand or they are transferred automatically by an upstream system.

On request the system can be equipped with additional options, for example barcode checking, an ejector station for unlabelled products, counter-checking of ejected products, carbon ribbon prior warning, label prior warning system, stacking or unstacking magazine.

It is also possible to implement a connection to the network or to a database.

Conveyance of the printed labels from the printer to the dispenser has been implemented with the aid of a loop control (see picture on the left). As soon as the supply of printed labels begins to run low, the printer receives a signal from the microprocessor control and begins (stops???) printing until the loop has refilled.
The printed labels move on to the dispenser and the carrier tape is rolled up after the labelling process. The products can either be placed on the conveyor belt by hand or they are transferred automatically by an upstream system.

The products reach the labelling station via the conveyor belt; there a label is applied to them. Labelling on both sides to mark the products with an additional label, for example with a comment "Book Tip of the Year", "Special Price", "Incl. Bonus Track" etc., would also be no problem.
An additional dispenser would simply have to be installed on the machine or the products would have to be placed on the conveyor belt with the side already labelled facing down. The machine is very flexible in terms of applications.
